2.4 THE OUTLOOK BAR

The Outlook bar presents nine tabs. They correspond to the areas managed by

Xedio Manager.

When Xedio Manager is started for the first time, only the Media and Users tabs

are shown. You need to create a media server before being able to see all the

tabs. See section 6.2 ‘Media Servers’ on page 36.

The following table briefly describes the various categories:

Subject Purpose

Encoders Manages (create, delete and modify) encoders and sets up

their parameters.

LinX Manages interactions with EVS video servers.

Machines Manages

interactions with external devices such as VTR,

archive servers, XFile and EVS servers.

Medias Manages all media and associated storage structure as

referenced in the database.

Metadata

Manages the creation of metadata profiles which could be

associated to media.

Playouts Manages the playout servers used by the Xedio Suite.

Softwares Sets up all software parameters and allows the creation of

parameter profiles.

Tools Manages database content and users jobs.
